Chakras

Throughout our body we
have main energy centers, which are connected to major organs or
glands that govern other body parts. Each of these main energy centers
are referred to as chakra. Chakra is a Sanskrit word which means
wheel. A chakra is a wheel-like spinning vortex that whirls in a
circular motion forming a vacuum in the center that draws in anything
it encounters on its particular vibratory level.
It is said that our body
contains hundred of chakras that are the key to the operation of
our being. These spinning wheels draw in energy from
our surroundings as well as also radiate an energy of vibration.
It is also believed that
we have seven main chakra centers and that each main center is connected
to our being on several different levels: physical, emotional, mental
and spiritual. On the physical level each chakra governs a main
organ or gland, which is then connected to other body parts that
resonate the same frequency.
The seven main chakra
centers are aligned along the spinal column. If there are disturbances
on any level, this shows in the chakras vitality level. Also
each of the seven main chakras is their own intelligence center.
This means that each chakra is not only associated with our physical
health but also controls aspects connected to our emotional, mental
and belief system.
In addition to the Chakras,
the Hindu also believe in the energy of the "Kundalini Sakti,"
coiled and dormant "'feminine" energy, is the vast potential
of psychic energy contained within us all. It is normally symbolized
as a serpent coiled into three and a half circles, with its tail
in its mouth, and spiralling around the central axis (sacrum or
sacred bone) at the base of the spine.
The effect of waking
the Kundalini is very powerful. Through a series of exercises involving
posture, meditation and breathing, you can force this energy up
through the body to the top of the head. This brings about a sensation
of bliss, as the ordinary self is dissolved into its eternal essence,
atman. Belly dancing and Tantric or Mantra yoga are excellent ways
to awaking the Kundalini.
When we tap into our
Kundalini We become aware of our creative capacities and our radiant
caliber. We become aware of our finite relationship with infinity.
Kundalini makes it possible for us as humans with finite identities
to relate to our infinite dieties. We cannot live without a constant
flow of Kundalini energy. The difference is the amount of the flow.
When there is an abundant flow of Kundalini our mind awakens from
its long nap we stop living in imaginary realities we become committed
to our purpose and our service we enjoy the abundant pleasures of
life.(Yogi
Bhajan, Master of Kundalini Yoga)
The Kundalini is there
to nourish, to heal and look after and to give an individual a higher
and deeper personality. The power of Kundalini is absolute purity,
auspiciousness, chastity, self respect, pure love, detachment, concern
for others and enlightened attention, to give infinite joy and peace
to an individual. (Knowledge of Reality Magazine)
