The Hermit represents a time when the seeker may wish to draw inward, away from all outside action, to be introspective and gain perspective on the world outside. This may represent a time for soul searching or looking to yourself for the answer or maybe just the need for some alone time. It is a time of self-illumination, circumspection – the search for the truth and wisdom of the higher self. It can also reflect an acceptance and understanding of things that can't be changed as well as wisdom, patience, new appreciation of life. When dealing with a conflict, the Hermit can also signify a time for withdrawal or retreat. The Hermit suggests a quiet, withdrawn person intent on self-reflection and mediation. It can also be someone who is withdrawn, expressionless, a loner, one who withholds information or keeps secrets. Reversed
- Isolation, alienation. Imprudence. Hastiness. Rashness. Prematurely.
Incorrect advice. Excessive isolation. Rejected assistance from
others. Fear and suspicion of the outside world. Unwillingness to
explore new ideas. Dismissing sound advice. Search for knowledge
hampered by depression.
