The Cups The suit of cups - or hearts as they are known in our modern deck - are thought to predict changes in one's emotional life or in relationships. They indicate emotional states and responses, creation, fertility, love and fantasy. It's our inner well-being and how we perceive the world. The cups are associated with the element of water, and in the past were also associated with the clergy, the social caste that ideally lived a more emotional-ruled existence. Cups are the bridge between the idea and the next phase, which is action.
