Stone: Tiger's-eye
Color: Brown
with golden bands
Associated Element: Fire
Energy: Projective
Magickal Powers/Uses: Tiger's-eye is a glowing golden brown
stone with bands of yellow asbestos filaments. This stone exhibits
chatoyancy, a flickering quality that appears to move along the
stone when exposed to light at different angles (the same as in
cat's-eye, a different stone). This quality is similar to the way
an actual cat's eye can reflect light to produce different colors
at different angles (hence the names tiger's-eye and cat's-eye).
Tiger's-eye is a money and luck attracting stone, and assists in
maintaining wealth over time. Used to increase self-confidence,
courage, and assertiveness, tiger's-eye combats shyness. It is an
energizer, and it strengthens personal power and promotes overall
good health. Tiger's-eye also protects one from all types of danger
and is said to be a stone of truth, honesty, and sound judgment.
Hawk's-eye or falcon's-eye is the bluish-gray variety of tiger's-eye.
Hawk's-eye has many of the same powers as tiger's-eye, but in a
less aggressive form. Tiger's-eye is primarily found in South Africa.

Stone: Tourmaline
Color: Varied
Associated Element: Varied
Energy: Varied
Magickal Powers/Uses: Tourmaline in an interesting translucent
crystal with a wide spectrum of colors including green, blue, pink,
red, black, and watermelon (part green, part red). Tourmaline is
unique in that it is piezoelectric, meaning when a crystal is heated
or vibrated, friction is created and it polarizes the stone at each
end (one end becomes positively charged and the other is negatively
charged). Tourmaline is also pleochroic, which means that the crystal
will appear transparent and lighter in color when viewed from the
side, as opposed to opaque and almost black when viewed from either
end. The different hues of tourmaline each have their own special
properties. Green tourmaline is purifying and helps to balance emotions,
attract money and success, and stimulates creativity and communication.
The blue variety inspires peace, removes stress, and aids sleep.
Pink hued tourmaline promotes love, comfort, and positive heartfelt
emotions. Red tourmaline dispels negativity and stress. It is an
energizer and fosters strength and courage. The black variety is
called schorl, and is a grounding and protective stone. Watermelon
tourmaline balances opposing forces (male/female, dark/light) and
promotes harmony and acceptance of others. Tourmaline has been used
by Native North Americans, Africans, Australian Aborigines, and
Indians for magickal purposes. It is found in Sri Lanka, Pakistan,
Russia, Italy, Brazil, and the United States.

Stone: Turquoise
Color: Blue-green
Associated Element: Earth
Energy: Receptive
Magickal Powers/Uses: Turquoise is a waxy feeling, opaque
blue-green stone which often contains fine brown spots or lines
from the presence of copper within the rock. Turquoise can be light
green, light blue, or anywhere in between. Dark or very bright blue
shades are usually the result of artificial permeation with waxes
or dyes. Turquoise has been valued as a powerful magickal tool for
thousands of years, and has many varied applications. It is a strong
protective stone, able to ward off danger of any kind. Specifically,
it brings protection to horses and their riders when worn. The color
of turquoise is said to fade when its owner is under stress. Many
Native North Americans view turquoise as a sacred bringer of good
luck, fortune, power, and strength. It is also widely used to bring
needed rains to their lands. As a blue-green stone, turquoise attracts
wealth and luck. It is also a stone of love, serenity, peace, friendship,
and marriage, as turquoise connects the three upper and the three
lower chakras, bringing harmony and balance. Turquoise aids in communication
and is helpful with any type of public speaking. Also a potent healer,
it is used to treat disorders of the eyes, throat, lungs, heart,
arthritis, and enhances overall health and vitality. It is a sacred
stone of the Egyptians, Persians, and Tibetans. Turquoise occurs
in Iran, Afghanistan, Australia, and the southwestern United States.
