Stone: Sapphire

Magickal Powers/Uses: Sapphire is a a beautiful transparent
crystal, most commonly deep blue in color, but can also be pink,
gold, white, black, or orange. Sapphire is the non-red variety of
the mineral corundum, second only to diamonds in hardness (ruby
is the red variety). It is highly associated with psychism and the
third eye chakra. Its typical blue color indicates a strong connection
with spirituality, peace, cleansing, and purification. Sapphire
augments intuition and meditation. It is a stone of Apollo, the
Greek God of the Sun, and was used when consulting oracles such
as at Delphi. It promotes love, loyalty, fidelity, and friendship.
Sapphire is also a protective stone and a strong physical healer.
It assists in combating blood disorders, memory loss, anxiety, insomnia,
and diseases of the eye. Sapphires are also used to strengthen power
and energy flow during magickal workings. They are found throughout
the world including Burma, Afghanistan, Africa, India, Thailand,
Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

Magickal Powers/Uses: Sardonyx is a blend of carnelian or
sard layered with white chalcedony. A protective stone, it is used
to increase stamina, courage, energy, and creativity. It is also
a stone of virtue and promotes marital happiness and peace. Sardonyx
ensures eloquence and clarity of speech and is excellent for public
speaking, lectures, and courtroom appearances. It is helpful with
relieving pain, depression, and treating infections. Sardonyx was
a sacred stone of the ancient Romans and Egyptians.

Stone: Selenite
Color: Colorless
Associated Element: Water
Energy: Receptive
Magickal Powers/Uses: Selenite is the clear, transparent
form of the mineral gypsum. The ancient carving material called
alabaster is another variety of gypsum. Gypsum is the same material
that the walls of nearly every modern home are constructed of--drywall.
It is known for its insulating and warming qualities. Selenite itself
is named for Selene, the Moon Goddess, and is associated with the
Moon in general. It is a powerful stone for channeling, meditation,
and aura work, and directs and moves energy where needed. Selenite
fosters clarity, peace, purification, psychic development, and is
also used to promote reconciliation between lovers. It is a common
mineral and is found in Mexico, Italy, the United States, and throughout
the world.

Magickal Powers/Uses: Serpentine is a stone of varying green
shades and is associated with longevity, ancient wisdom, remembrance
of past lives, and respect for all that is old and may be forgotten.
It was sacred to the people of ancient Assyria (modern day Iraq)
and was used to attract protection and blessings from divinity.
It also assists with lactation and protects against poisonous creatures
such as snakes, bees, spiders, etc. Serpentine occurs in Switzerland,
Canada, Italy, Russia, and the United States.

Magickal Powers/Uses: Silver is an ancient, pure, and powerful
metal that has been used for thousands of years in association with
the Moon and the Goddess. Silver brings calmness, peace, and sensitivity
to its wearer. It augments spirituality, magickal ability, psychic
visions, dreams, and meditation. It fosters mothering and nurturing
qualities, and is protective of women, nature, and travelers. As
much of the world's coins are made of silver, it is also a potent
amulet for attracting money. Many Wiccans and worshippers of the
Goddess wear silver jewelry, particularly crescents, in honor of
her. Silver bells and altar pieces are often used to invoke the
goddess as well. Silver also promotes love, kindness, and gentleness.

Color: Dark blue with white veins

Magickal Powers/Uses: Sodalite is a opaque blue stone with
strong associations of wisdom, learning, logic, and intelligence.
It ensures emotional balance, intuition, perception, and clarity.
It is a useful aid in meditation and stress relief. Sodalite's blue
color promotes peace, spiritual awareness, and psychism. It allows
one to accept guidance from the Goddess/God and elders. Sodalite
occurs in Brazil, Canada, Italy, and the United States.

Stone: Sugilite
Color: Purple
Associated Element: Water
Energy: Receptive
Magickal Powers/Uses: Sugilite is a bright purple opaque
stone. As a purple stone, it is associated with spirituality, wisdom,
and healing. Sugilite is a very "new" mineral and was
only discovered in the 1940's. Its use thus far has revealed strong
powers including treating immune diseases, cancer, chronic pain,
and addiction. It promotes psychic development, and clears the mind
to allow wisdom and light to shine through. Sugilite is said to
dispel nearly every negative emotion, from jealousy to hatred. It
is found in South Africa, Japan, and Canada, and is still relatively
rare and expensive.

Color: Orange
Associated Element: Fire
Energy: Projective
Magickal Powers/Uses: Sunstone is a translucent to opaque
stone in varying hues of orange, tangerine, and peach. It has a
somewhat metallic sheen caused by small inclusions of hematite shavings.
Sacred to the Sun gods, it has been used in magick for centuries.
A strong energizer, sunstone is said to affect change on the cellular
level. It helps to revitalize one's life-force and is useful in
healing diseases of a cellular nature such as cancer. Sunstone increases
strength, courage, energy, independence, and is reported to promote
sexuality and desire. It provides protection for self and home.
Sunstone was sacred to the ancient Greeks, the people of India,
and Native North Americans. It is found in Sweden, Sri Lanka, Russia,
Canada, and the United States.
