Stone: Ruby
Color: Red
Associated Element: Fire
Energy: Projective
Magickal Powers/Uses: Ruby is a brilliant red transparent stone with a long history of magickal use. Rubies are the red form of the mineral corundum (sapphire is the non-red variety), and are second only to diamonds in hardness. They are primarily used to attract wealth and power, but also offer protective qualities. Ancient lore states that a ruby will grow dark when danger or illness threatens its owner. It was used as an amulet to ward off negativity, evil spirits, and psychic attack. Rubies protect the home from storms and negativity. Ruby is a highly stimulating stone, and is helpful with increasing energy and healing illnesses such as chronic fatigue syndrome. It is also reported to increase energy during magickal workings. Its red color associates it with love and matters of the heart, and it promotes joy, warmth, happiness, and passion. Dreaming of a ruby is always fortunate, and rubies can help to relieve nightmares. They are sacred stones of Buddhists and Hindus. Rubies are found in many locations throughout the world including Burma, Afghanistan, Africa, India, Thailand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
