Stone: Mother-of-pearl
Color: Opalescent white
Associated Element: Water/Akasha
Energy: Receptive
Magickal Powers/Uses: Mother-of-pearl is the colorful opalescent
lining found in many seashells and is created by the creatures living
in the shells. It is an organic substance, and commercial harvesting
kills the resident animal. Unless found by the sea in empty shells,
consider its use carefully, as it could have a negative magickal
impact. It is sometimes referred to as nacre. Mother-of-pearl has
long associations with protection, the ocean, and mother's love.
It is also a powerful aid in workings related to wealth and money.
It was used by Polynesian peoples as a form of currency. Mother-of-pearl
is found near oceans and seashores throughout the world.
