Malachite, Moonstone, Mother-of-Pearl

Magickal Powers/Uses: Malachite is a vibrant green stone, often with bands or spots of darker green. Its green color associates it with money and business dealings, but it is also utilized for protection, particularly for children, and has calming effects. Ancient lore suggests that malachite will break into two pieces to warn of impending danger. It quells nervousness, and relieves depression. As it is a stone of Venus, it also attracts love and fidelity. Malachite is known as the stone of change, and helps to facilitate the acceptance of changes in life. It is helpful in treating a wide variety of physical ailments including diabetes, asthma, arthritis, muscular disorders, tumors, and problems of the eye. It also eases childbirth and menstrual difficulties. Malachite is found, often with azurite, in Africa, Australia, England, Russia, Mexico, and the United States.

Magickal Powers/Uses: Moonstone is sacred to goddesses of the moon, and has had a lunar connection for many centuries. It is a stone of love, sleep, divination, youth, psychism, and protection. It is generally protective of women, travelers, and nature, and eases menstrual difficulties and childbirth. It aids in developing intuition, easing tension, self-expression, and creativity. Moonstone fosters nurturing and mothering qualities by promoting selflessness and unconditional love. A moonstone placed under the pillow can help to bring peaceful sleep. It is a sacred stone of India, and the people of India believe that by holding a moonstone in the mouth, one can foretell the future. Wiccan ritual jewelry is often made of silver and moonstone, and a stone is frequently kept with tarot cards or rune stones to promote psychic power. Moonstone is used to maintain a youthful appearance and as an aid in weight loss. It occurs in Russia, Sweden, Sri Lanka, Canada, and the United States.

Magickal Powers/Uses: Mother-of-pearl is the colorful opalescent lining found in many seashells and is created by the creatures living in the shells. It is an organic substance, and commercial harvesting kills the resident animal. Unless found by the sea in empty shells, consider its use carefully, as it could have a negative magickal impact. It is sometimes referred to as nacre. Mother-of-pearl has long associations with protection, the ocean, and mother's love. It is also a powerful aid in workings related to wealth and money. It was used by Polynesian peoples as a form of currency. Mother-of-pearl is found near oceans and seashores throughout the world.
