Stone: Jade
Color: Light to dark green
Associated Element: Water
Energy: Receptive
Magickal Powers/Uses: Jade can actually be either the mineral jadeite or the mineral nephrite, but both are commonly referred to as jade. Jade is an extremely important stone in the cultures of the Orient, particularly China. It represents the five Chinese cardinal virtues of charity, modesty, courage, justice, and wisdom. It is still sacred to the Chinese today, and was also used in Africa and New Zealand in ancient times. Jade is associated with love, wisdom, healing, longevity, tranquility, protection, and prosperity. Jade fosters tolerance and harmony. It is used to heal kidney, bladder, and heart problems. Magickal workings to bring needed water often include the use of jade. Jade is most commonly a variety of green shades, but can also be yellow, lavender, blue-gray, or white. It can be found in China, Japan, Central America, and Canada.

Stone: Jasper
Color: Varied
Associated Element: Varied
Energy: Varied
Magickal Powers/Uses: Jasper is a hard, opaque variety of chalcedony which occurs in a wide range of colors and patterns. It is used for protection, healing, and defensive magick. Red jasper in particular is used for protection and defensive magick, as it returns negative energy back to the sender. Brown jasper is helpful in grounding and achieving stability. The green variety is associated with healing, relaxation, nurturing, and compassion. Yellow jasper provides protection when traveling. Other varieties include leopard and desert jasper. Jasper was sacred to the Native Americans and was used in ceremonies to call the rain, hence the name "raingatherer" or "rainbringer".

Stone: Jet
Color: Black
Associated Element: Earth/Akasha
Energy: Receptive
Magickal Powers/Uses: Jet, like amber, is actually not a stone, but is organic in nature. It is fossilized wood that is millions of years old. Again, like amber, jet becomes electrically charged when rubbed. In some covens, the High Priestess wears a necklace of amber and jet. Jet is a powerful healer and protector. It absorbs negativity, helps with centering, regulates energy flow, and promotes psychism. It also fosters calmness and balance. Jet is often "faked" using plastic or glass, so choose pieces carefully. The most common sources of jet are Spain, England, Germany, Canada, and France.
